Flowers are such a Wonderful Gift

Flowers.

They are such an amazing gift.

It's funny.

One of our staff, Jim, went out this week and purchased a Cadillac.

While at the dealership, he struck up a conversation with the Manager.

He began to discuss the fact that in all his years of purchasing cars, the very best thank you he has ever received was a Hand Written thank you card from the sales person that sold him the car.

Can you imagine that?

You purchase a car with a ticket price of over $40,000 and the best you get is a thank you card.

Sad to say, the dealership can't be convinced to spend even $40.00 delivered for a beautiful flower bouquet to the purchaser. "Well, if we can get it down to $10 or $15 we could consider it".

This is the standard answer from every car dealership he has ever talked to to try and persuade them to send flowers as a thank you.

Imagine that...they will spend $10,000 for a full page newspaper add on Sunday...every week to try and get you to purchase a vehicle from them...yet they can't even manage to eek out enough money from the sale...in the above case One Tenth of One Percent to say thank you to their customers.

YET , from my years of experience, I guarantee you that if any one of my team, including me, walks into an office with a beautiful bouquet of flowers...everything in that office stops at that very moment as they all clamor wondering who the flowers are for.

How much positive word of mouth would that car dealership get when the delivery driver says, Ma'am I have a beautiful bouquet for you from "Insert Car Dealership Name" as a thank you for purchasing a car from them last week.

This then opens the doors of opportunity for that recipient to gloat over their new car purchased with everyone in the office...all day long as everyone continues to marvel at their flower bouquet.

Yet, all we hear is "$40.00? ...we just can't afford to do that".

Huh...I wonder how many of those $10,000 newspaper ads create such a stir with so many in a captive audience as the delivered flowers.

Natasja Lherisson's Wedding Flowers

We had a rather large wedding to do on Saturday.

I must say, this particular wedding had to be the best wedding customer I think we have ever had. This is in no way to slight all of our other customers, for they are all important.

But this bride and her mom really struck a special cord with Sonja and I.

First, they came in to meet with us...and after the initial meeting with me, they actually decided to come back for more! Now, you have to actually meet with me for the first time to understand what I mean....

Anyway it was a dream wedding for us. They came in, with what we would consider a large budget for flowers and basically said...you are the pros...have at it.

And wow! The wedding flowers were most amazing.

Orchids, Cymbidium and Dendrobiums, Roses, Gerber Daisies, many types of greenery, lilies of multiple colors, birds of paradise. Wow. The colors were vibrant, they styles were striking...and the best part?

When Natasja came in to see her bouquet, she was struck silent. As the end of her nose reddened and her eyes watered up, I knew we had done it. We were the happiest part of her day on Friday...at least from what she said.

Our best wishes to her and her new husband. They are off to a great start.

Thank you again for allowing us to handle your special day flowers. The honor was ours.

Who's your Mama?

Well, Mother's day is only days away!

There are an awful lot of folks vying for your hard earned dollars in an attempt to get you to send a gift to mom.

Remember, nothing beats sending flowers professionally arranged by your local florist.

Florists, just like any other business can vary dramatically in their level of services.

We are always pleased to have you consider sending mom flowers through the Wishing Well Florist.

Remember, ordergathering institutions such as Teleflora, FTD, 800-Flowers and the like are truly a costly venture for you. You will end up spending $25.00 in excess service fees by contacting these companies. These fees can be avoided by going directly to your local florist!

Direct from the farm companies such as ProFlowers claim "100 blooms for only $19.99" In truth, this means 20 stems of Alstroemeria. Add all the hidden fees such as the FEDEX fee, order taking fees and the like and your $19.99 purchase quickly climbs to over $40.00!

Stop by most local florists and you can get the same flowers, minus the crazy fees, and believe me they are every bit as fresh as ProFlowers.

The unfortunate fact is that in marketing, a company can claim anything they so choose and there is nothing stopping them from doing so. However, these direct from the farm companies house all of their "Fresh From the Farm" flowers in large refrigerated wharehouses exactly like the wharehouses ever other floral related entitiy in the nations stocks theirs.

In fact, in many cases, flowers are delivered to florists via a method called ProCona. This means the flowers are cut, placed immediately in water filled square buckets, housed in a protective cardboard enclosure, strapped and loaded on refrigerated trucks for delivery.

Because these flowers are immediately placed in water, they are ultimately "fresher" than any flowers housed in dry boxes.

Not to mention, purchasing flowers in a box for mom that she must arrange herself is similiar to taking her a bag of groceries and making the statement "Hi Mom, Happy Mother's Day, we bought you dinner, you'd best get cooking".

Flowers Make the Day

I will admit...it is very difficult for me to understand.

Secondly, I will concede that this particular blog may seem self serving.

A friend asked me last night "How's business?". Well, I told him, unless someone in our customer base has died or is getting married, people aren't buying much.

I know that it is taboo to discuss business and the lack thereof with customers, however, I use it to illustrate a point.

I am grateful for any business that comes through our doors, that's for sure.

To me, however, it is unfortunate that it would seem, for the time, the only real reason most can find is for Weddings and for Funerals.

A wedding is a wonderful time to celebrate with flowers, yet in many cases, flowers come in a close last place in order of importance, usually falling behind the dress, the booze, and the food. Yet of all things people will remember from your wedding, I can guarantee you, if the flowers are done right, that is what is going to be remembered...and nothing else!

Funerals are also a time to send flowers, for they do so much to lighten the hearts of those that are grieving. Yet, I wonder, how much more do you think the person in the coffin would have appreciated the sentiment had they been sent while they were alive?

Corporations as a matter of tight budgets have all but eliminated flowers for employees, yet, do you know that flowers are the single most well received gift you can send to a staffer. Be it for a birthday, get well, employment anniversary, or to celebrate achievement. I can assure you, the flowers are by far the best use of your companies money to improve and keep morale high during these difficult times!

I told my friend that I firmly, firmly believe if every one of the customers in our base could spend a day riding around with one of our drivers their desire to send flowers would change. To see the impact making each flower delivery has on it's intended destination is something to behold.

We seem to manage to find hundreds, if not often thousands of dollars in our budgets for things that moth and rust will destroy such as computers, Televisions, video games, golf clubs and the like.

Yet, I challenge you...and men, this goes out to you in particular.

On this day, bring home your wife a new television. Follow that up a few days later with a beautiful floral bouquet.

One will cost you over $500, the other...somewhere around $50 if you aren't being cheap.

While the flowers will die, they will last longer in the mind of that particular recipient than you can calculate. I guarantee you this. When that TV finally either is replaced or breaks, those flowers will still be remembered.

It will always confound me why more people don't grasp this. TV...$500...flowers $50.... and we still hear "Flowers? We can't afford flowers! They are too expensive and just die".

Huh.

Maybe this actually shows us where our priorities are as a human being. I don't know...just a thought anyway.

Hope life is well for you...and by all means, whenever you need flowers, click here. We're glad to help.

Valentine Flowers For your Lover

Here we are in the midst of a massive government spending bill being passed, despite widespread public disapproval.

Congress and the Senate are getting calls 9 to 1 against this plan...yet they rage on, exempting themselves from the new Health Care regulations they will impose on you and your children.

Sad for sure.

Worse yet, this bill will do nothing whatsoever to improve our economy. It will only increase government spending...but I guess what's new, right?

So, let's talk Valentine's.

This year, as the holiday is approaching, it seems everyone wants a bit of your wallet.

On one side of the fence, you have your Order Gatherers, those offices that are nothing more than a bunch of folks taking orders from you for your loved one, simply diverting the order through their offices and sending it back to a florist in your town to fill...all the while charging you more than $20 additional dollars just for placing the order with them. So much for savings.

On another corner of the world you have the "direct from the grower" Proflowers. Their aim is primarily selling to the customer who is only concerned with how cheaply they can get away with sending the flowers. The direct from the grower theme they push is a provable scam. Their flowers sit in the same types of wharehouses wholesalers and growers use. Naturally, you get what you pay for as with everything and honestly, your ticket price get up high pretty quick before you are done. That $39.99 they promise quickly gets up to $70-$100. Not to mention that purchasing flowers like this is like purchasing a vacum for your friend and calling it a "cleaning service".

When your friends and family deserve the best and you wish to speak with someone who knows you, your likes and dislikes, and knows those you send to, give us a call or visit us on line at http://www.wishingwellflorist.com

If you prefer to be just a number and don't really care all that much about the end product, how it gets there, and what florist it comes from...the first two options are your best choice.

Hope you have a great day...and we look forward to working with you soon for all your flower needs in Kissimmee and Orlando Florida.
